The symbol of the moon had play an important role in the history behind this festival. Legend has it that a love story between a heavenly lady and a hero on Earth had fallen for each other and got married too. Soon after, their secret got found out and she was punished leaving them both separated. She was only allowed to reunite with him once a year on the Lunar calendar day of August 15th.
