Weihai
Weihai is a metropolitan region that consists of Rongcheng City, Wendeng City and Rushan City. The total area is 5,436 sq km with a population at 2.47 million. Dubbed as China’s “Garden City”, Weihai rests along the shorelines of the northeastern end of Shandong.

Weihai is the closest city in China that faces Korea. The region boasts of thick forestry, picturesque islands, and almost 600 miles of the coastal shore line flanked by the sea in three directions. Weihai’s yearly average temperature is 12.7°C, and an average rainfall of 900mm. It is also worth noting Weihai’s clear water, clean air, and low noise levels make Weihai the top-rank livable city in China.
Weihai’s history can be traced back to about 7,000 years. In 1398, the Imperial Ming Dynasty set up its first camp, called Weihai Guard. And later in 1898, the land was leased to Britain. It was returned to China in 1930. The City of Weihai was established in 1945.
Strolling down the streets of Weihai City, you cannot help but noticing bilingual store signs are all over the place. Since Weihai is close to Korea by sea, there are over 5,000 Korean families take residence in Weihai. Korean food here is authentic and merchandise is plenty. Weihai’s architecture also blends modern Chinese-style with Western touches. The sharp white color of the building is a reminiscence of the Greek Isles.
Weihai is also host to Asia’s largest swan population. Weihai’s seafood, fisherman’s wharf visits, and hot springs will relax your brain as well as your muscles.
Weihai has many resorts that offers beach view rooms 100% of its inventory. Catch a cup of fresh coffee while getting your glimpse of the breath-taking sunrise and/or sunsets. The Liugong Island
Is the birth place of Chinese navy. Here you will see the first naval academy of China sits in the former compound of China’s Northern Fleet in late 1800s. Not far from it is the formal garrison of British many.

The City of Rongcheng
Is actually one-third of Weihai’s region. This city is one of the most affluent regions in Shandong. Rongcheng started out as a fishing village on the east end of China. With 6.7 million people and an incredible GDP, Rongcheng now ranks 14th on Forbes’ top 100 city list in China

The Swan Lake
Covers an approximate area of 4.8sq km. It is a popular place where hundreds of swans settling their winter time here from Russia. Locals are proud of swans’ presence.

The Chengshantou Cliff (“Cape of Chengshantou”) at Rongcheng
Is located at the tip of the northeast end of Weihai. The view of deep cliffs reminds you that of Ireland. The view of its light house at the coastal line marker of China are breath taking.

Weihai Folklores
Seaweed roofing is popular here. At Yan Dun Jiao Village, there is 1,300 registered houses more than 300 years old. Seaweed glues tight on fishermen’s roof. You can see rooftops are typically caved in the middle. We are told seaweed insulation is amazing.
