Zhifu Island

Zhifu Island

Located in northern Zhifu (Chefoo) District, the island is a typical land-tied island. It features unique abrasion cliffs and reefs. Yangzhu (the master sun) Temple, the landmark building on the island, was originally constructed as early as 7th Century BCE. The first emperor, Emperor Qin, visited here three times during his reign some 2,300 years ago to worship heaven and the sun. The prime minister, Li Si wrote two inscriptions eulogizing the Emperor.

Yantai Hill

The first smoke tower was built in 1368 to warn the locals of pirates from Japan. The area was developed to include consulates, churches and residence for foreigners from UK, USA, Denmark, Japan, France, Germany, etc. Altogether 17 countries, including the U.K., France, Germany, the U.S. and Italy had established consulates here since Yantai became a treaty port in 1861. The cluster of consulate building is considered the oldest, biggest and best preserved in Asia. You will see mixed architecture styles

Tanxi Mountain National Park is within one hour drive from Zibo. It is known for its first and tallest glass bridge with cable-stayed suspension in the world.
