Furong Street

Furong means “Water Lily”; it is a historical commercial street in the old city of Jinan. Up to this day, it remains a popular food and shopping street, with stalls selling snacks from all over China. The 432-meter-long and 4.6-meter-wide path used to be the city’s administrative, financial, commercial and cultural center until the beginning of the 20th century. The street was renovated as part of the city government’s campaign to resurrect the historical town center while keeping with its original looks. Today, it is lined up with retail shops and food stands frequent mostly by young people.
