German Seaman’s Club

The beauty of Qingdao lies in its seamless mix of the old and new, foreign and local, especially in the colorful architecture scene. What better way to represent Qingdao’s colonial German architecture than the site of former German Seaman’s Club (German Navy Club) between Zhongshan Road and Hubei Road, which was designed in 1899 and opened for business in 1902. It was Qingdao’s first auditorium large to host grand events in the Neo-Renaissance German architectural style. Today, it is commonly used for recreation as a bar, or hosting parties. And on the side, it is house to a cinematography museum.
