Mount Lao in Summer Time

The No. 1 Coastal Mountain hides China’s most beautiful summer location, and there are even mountain delicacies worth to try.

Azure seas and blue skies, blankets of colorful flowers, laughter echoing in the green mountains and teal waters; Qingdao’s Mount Lao enters its most beautiful season in the early summer.

After arriving at the Qingdao Liuting International Airport and renting a car, you will only need to travel half an hour to see the shady green trees, thunderous waterfalls, bubbling springs, and cyan slopes of Mt. Lao as if being covered by a green veil.

The wind of early summer gently brushes over the flowers of Mt. Lao as the essence of greenery spreads throughout the mountains. Visitors might have even stepped into a real scene from The Wizard of Oz.

The people of Jiaodong love vivid landscapes, freedom, and delicious bites; all of which are most deeply embodied within Mt. Lao culture. In addition to the sapphire seas, blue skies, and thunderous waterfalls, you can also pick big cherries or sit in a corner of an ancient scholar academy and enjoy a leisurely time.

Stunning Landscape Scenery, Cave House of the Gods:

Jufeng Peak

The Jufeng Peak is 1,132.7 meters above sea level and is the highest peak of any mountain on the 18,000 kilometers coastline of mainland China.

Jiushui

Jiushui, or the “Nine Waters”, is formed from Mt. Lao’s spring water that flows down the mountain from the thousand-meter peak.

Yangkou

The Yangkou Beach is wide and flat – quite a juxtaposition to Mount Lao’s peaks and canyons – with superb sand quality, clear blue water and beautiful mountains and seas.

Taiqing

Take a scenic sightseeing bus to the Taiqing Tourist Area and enjoy the popular and spectacular Qingdao coastal highway along the way.

Academies hidden in the depths of the mountains, full of literary and artistic qualities

At the southern foot of Qingdao’s Mt. Lao, there are several ancient buildings hidden mysteriously among the green mountains and teal waters. This is the Mr. Lao Academy.

The Academies, also known as Academies of Classic Learning, were a type of school in ancient China usually far from bustling cities and focusing on scholarly discourse and education. The Laoshan Academy is a Hui-style piece of architecture built on the mountain and has an area of about 400 acres. It captures the century old traditional Hui-style charm and culture that has been passed down for thousands of years. When you come to Mt. Lao, you must visit Laoshan Academy to feel the imprints left behind by history.
