Chinese New Year Dumplings

For each food prepared, hidden a special meaning. For example, in the Lunar month on Dec 23 (Feb 4, 2021), a must-have for the few here.


Dumplings – usually eaten on the New Year’s Eve; and an essential part of the Spring Festival. Others even add other ingredients to add more “good fortune”.
Buns (Dough Modeling) – being big and round; representing a happy family reunion.

Laba Congee – a tradition to be eaten 8 days before the New Year (Jan 20); a symbol to celebrate the harvest throughout the year.

Guandong Sugar – a childhood candy of Shandong locals. Crowds will gather at street vendors to get their hands on it. Especially with the many varieties available.
