Years ago, a military base was established in Penglai to oversee all naval operations in its surrounding area. Today, the naval fortress continues to be well-maintained and preserves a window into China’s past. Here you will also find a number of trendy hotels, restaurants, and themed tourist areas. Atop the Danya Cliffs at Penglai Pavillion to witness the awe-inspiring statue of 8 immortals, legendary men, who are revered in Taoist culture is a real fun. There are six temples surrounding Penglai Pavilion occupying 18,900sq km.
Located in Penglai, Yantai, the construction is one of the four famous ancient pavilions in China. Originally erected in 1061, it is said to be the place where the Eight Immortals crossed the ocean. It is also the best location to watch the grand view of a mirage. Inspiring statues of the Eight Immortals sculpted to descriptions in legends are also a must-see. These figures of wisdom are also highly revered in Taoism. This is the very spot that had won the acclaim of ‘Wonderland on Earth’.
