Another attraction is the Dawenkou Museum which was built on the base of the Dawenkou archeological site. The museum is located in Dawenkou Town which is at the southern edge of Mount Tai. Historically, the Dawenkou culture lasted from 4300 BC to 2500 BC in the Neolithic Age. The museum shows tourists stone tools and pottery as well as the lifestyle of this ancient culture.
As the eastern-most of China’s five great mountains, emperors, scholars, and pilgrims have been summiting Mount Tai’s 1,545m peak for over 3,000 years. In dynastic China, the emperor would pay homage to heaven at the summit and foot of Mount Tai. The Five Lotus Mountain is known for several of its peaked valleys. A 10,000 acre wild rhododendron garden just around the corner is blossomed in spring. Temples & schools are buried in the woods. A good place to recharge.

Walk through the narrow streets alongside residential courtyards. Many of the rooms here were destroyed due to historical reasons. But, you will still see people living here if you go through the yield. Even a few art masters still remain in this building like masters in stone carving, wooden carving, brick carving etc. When you have walked through the building, your walk might make you think you have travelled back in time to the Qing dynasty. Just 2.5 km (1.55 miles) southeast of downtown Jinan, Qianfoshan, or Thousand Buddha Mountain, is the city’s largest downtown park. The mountain boasts of the 130 Buddha statues carved during the Sui Dynasty (581-618 AD), a Ten Thousand Buddha Cave the foot of the northern slope, and other historical collectibles dated back as early as 2,000 years ago. The mountain is also a great place to take panoramic views of Jinan, especially at sunset.
The Tianning Temple is the largest Grand Hall in Dongying. Locals love to brag about how Emperors who visited the temple were summoning ranking local officials. The grand celebration will be held every Buddhist festival. It is open all-year round, with street food, lion dance, and stilt performances.
From late November to early April, you will find yourself in a bird’s paradise just 15 minutes southeast from downtown Dongying. Thousands of black and grey swans, cranes and other types of birds can be found either in the sky or dancing passionately on the water. Nowhere else in the world will you find such a sight!
