Qianfoshan Mountain (Thousand Buddha Mountain)
Just 2.5 km (1.55 miles) southeast of downtown Jinan, Qianfoshan, or Thousand Buddha Mountain, is the city’s largest downtown park. The mountain boasts of the 130 Buddha statues carved during the Sui Dynasty (581-618 AD), a Ten Thousand Buddha Cave the foot of the northern slope, and other historical collectibles dated back as early as 2,000 years ago. The mountain is also a great place to take panoramic views of Jinan, especially at sunset. The climb up takes about 30 minutes by foot. There is also the option to take the bus or cable car.
