The Zhu Mansion

(Cont’ from Heze page)

Thick, milky, and bobbled for hours, Shan Country mutton soup is said to be capable of recharging your body and soul. Intro.

There are more to be found. The county was rarely visited by foreigners in the past due to its rocky paths and secluded location. The recent south loop of Shandong’s bullet train eases access to this mysterious ancient town of 1.24 million residents. The newly opened Zhu Mansion of Shan County hosts the county’s Folk Art Museum. With 10 generations inhabitants, the mansion’s space expands well beyond 100,000 sq meters. Hence, the saying that walking beyond 50 kilometers, you are still within Zhu’s home garden courtyard. At the peak of family glory, the Zhu’s family had owned 1/5 of the entire county land. That is a miniature of Beijing’s Palace Museum.  This is living proof, that “when the sky is high, the emperor is far away, you can do anything you like”.

Shan County is also known for its sculptured archways.  Shan County archways symbolizes nobility and is ostentatiously lavish.  The Archway Avenue is where the highlights of Qing Dynasty archways are clustered.  It is the place you can smell competitiveness.

Zhu family used to be the richest in Shan County of Heze region. A peek into his nabsiob of 200 rooms, your first impression could be how easily to get loss. Exhibit by subject such as wedding chamber and wedding rooms are open to public. Old weaving machine was smart in that era. 72 Steps to weave was passed on for generations.
