Yellow River Memorial Tower
Spring creeps into Binzhou quietly. A new landmark, the Yellow River Memorial Tower, opened around the end of April, 2021, is located on the northern bank of the Yellow River. Here, the Puyuan Scenic Area is one of the city’s new landmarks that have mixed sightseeing and tourism. You can also find a display of Yellow River culture, Binzhou culture, and exhibitions of calligraphy gifts and handicrafts.
At 13-stories, 74.8 meters high, this is the highest observation tower overlooking China’s mother river. It is also an architectural marvel with 9 (China’s lucky number) attributes: 9 floors as seen from the exterior and 9 cornice symbolizing 99 turns of the river pouring over 9 provinces of China and bypassing 9 metropolitans in Shandong.
The tower is a museum documenting the lifestyle of local residents along both banks of the Yellow River.
